Doctoral researchers are invited to submit an application to participate in the Doctoral Workshop to be held in conjunction with the Conceptions of Library and Information Science (CoLIS) conference hosted at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, UK, 2–5 June 2025.
During the Doctoral Workshop, scheduled for the 2nd June 2025, participants will be invited to share their current dissertation work-in-progress with their peers and with an international panel of research mentors invited to take part in the Workshop.
The objectives of the Doctoral Workshop are as follows:

For this event, we favour students who are in the early to middle stages of their dissertation research. Further details on Workshop activities will be available closer to the event.
How to Apply
To apply to the Doctoral Workshop, prepare a submission package consisting of the following:
- Thesis Summary (2 pages). Prepare a thesis summary, which outlines the rationale for and aim of your research , the theoretical and methodological approaches you are taking as well as the proposed work plan and a description of your progress to date. Considering the themes of the CoLIS conference, clearly position your work within Library and Information Science. The summary may contain diagrams or pictures.
- Short CV (1-2 pages). Please include a short narrative on your background and relevant experience, as well as details on the doctoral programme you are enrolled in and the name of your supervisor(s).

All Doctoral Workshop submissions should be submitted electronically to the CoLIS EasyChair submission system. The documents above should be submitted as a single PDF file. Use Times New Roman font, size 12; single spacing; left side alignment; paragraph indenting of 1.5. Please note that even though the abstract field is mandatory in the submission system, no abstract is necessary. Write “Doctoral Workshop Submission” instead.
Further Information
We do not intend to publish the Doctoral Workshop thesis papers as these are works-in-progress but they will be shared with the workshop participants for active engagement. Moreover, we will invite the doctoral workshop participants to submit a short (up to 2 min) video on their research by 15 May 2025. These videos will be used on conference website and social media channels and will be a great opportunity to increase the visibility of the participants’ doctoral research.
